Village Chak Jafar, from where my ancestors migrated to
Pakistan in 1947, is now tehsil in held Jammu.
The village's name was an eponym for my great-great-grand
father, Chaudhry Jafar Khan.
My grand father Chaudhry Abdullah Khan remained Member
of the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, before
Partition. In the assembly, he remained instrumental in
asking the government to increase budget on education and
in constructing schools in his constituency. He himself
used to run Madrassas and schools in his village.
